Families seek support from psychologists for all sorts of reasons. Families often get in touch because they are experiencing challenges with emotions, behaviour or relationships. These issues may be negatively affecting the wellbeing, happiness or mental health of an individual or the family as whole. I strongly believe in the principles of early intervention, which means I feel it is helpful to support as early as possible, before challenges have opportunity to take root. Please see the 'support available' section for detailed information regarding the types of challenges I provide support for.
I provide virtual sessions which are 50 minutes in duration. The first session will be aimed at getting to know you and your family, spending time understanding what's going well and what is more challenging. We will work together to develop a goal you wish to achieve and consider whether you would like to work within a brief number of sessions or whether you would like more open-ended support. I appreciate your time is precious so I ensure we check in regularly to make sure our sessions are going in the direction you hoped.
Virtual sessions can sometimes be tricky for young people to engage with. Therefore we can discuss whether virtual sessions would fit well for your child or not. I believe there are strengths within families which can be utilised to support any challenges your child may be experiencing and I believe parents always benefit from support to, in turn, provide the necessary support for their child going through a difficult time.
I offer a free 20 minute initial telephone consultation so we can discuss your hopes from attending therapy and I can explain the way in which I work. It is really important you feel comfortable with the psychologist you work with, so this will give us an opportunity to see whether we would be a good fit. If you choose not to proceed with sessions, I can discuss alternative options and signpost you to services which may help. If we feel it would be helpful to work together, sessions are charged at £120 per hour.
Yes, I can provide a range of additional types of support such as written reports, letters or attending meetings with schools to support your child within the school setting. We can discuss the cost of such additional types of support so please do speak to me further.
I do not currently provide face-to-face sessions.
I do not provide assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I do not provide support for difficulties relating to eating disorders, self-harm or suicidal ideation. If I feel another service would be better suited to meeting your needs, I would discuss this with you further and signpost you accordingly.
